It’s frustrating when you invest in beautiful, good-quality skincare products and follow a strict skincare regime, only for your skin to stage a revolt.
Perhaps your skin starts to feel very oily and you break out in acne. Or, it might start feeling really tight and dry, and take on an aged, dry, irritated appearance.
My advice if this happens to you, is to first read the ingredients label on the skincare products you’re using. Often, people with acne use very harsh ingredients, which is akin to abusing the skin.
Or if you don’t have acne, but feel your skin is drying out, make sure the cleanser you’re using is not too harsh and drying, and that your skincare products don’t contain any sodium laureth sulphate.
If you don’t think it’s the products causing your problems, it might be a good idea for you to book in for a facial. It’s important to have your skin professional analysed under a woods lamp, which shines an ultraviolet light onto your skin and shows patches of dry or oily skin.
Then the therapist can treat your skin accordingly. They may choose to do some sort of peel, or perhaps treat your skin using microdermabrasion, which takes off the top layer of dead skin cells and makes your skin look really refreshed.
Of course, your diet and emotional state can have a huge bearing on the health of your skin, so make sure those two important areas of your life are in balance and take steps to improve them if they’re not.
