When drinking water becomes a health hazard

Some of my blog readers recently asked me to share my thoughts on water fluoridation.

I realise the authorities are trying to improve dental health when they add fluoride to water supplies, but I actually disagree with it.

Whether or not it works as a dental health measure is debatable.

What I take issue with, is the way this has been forced upon us and we have absolutely no choice in the matter.

There are various health concerns associated with ingesting fluoride — standard toothpastes warn against swallowing the stuff — yet people are allowed to ingest it in uncontrolled doses when they drink fluoridated tap water.

Fluoride is considered more acutely poisonous than lead to your brain, kidneys, thyroid gland, bones, teeth and gastrointestinal tract.

Fluoride was recently added to the water supply where I live on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, so you definitely won’t catch me drinking tap water.

I only drink a certain type of alkaline mineral water, which I wrote about in this post.

But that’s not the point.

Some people are hypersensitive to fluoride and just taking a shower in fluoridated water can give them skin rashes, mouth lesions, gastic problems, headaches, joint pain and lethargy.

I think there are better ways to care for our teeth than drugging our water supply and subjecting everyone to the dangerous effects of fluoride, whether they like it or not.

If you think the whole water fluoridation thing is just some sort of hippy whinge-fest, check out this confronting video. As they say: you’ll never look at tap water the same way again.

You’ll find a wealth of information at the Fluoride Action Network site, as well as ways you can actively protest to have fluoride removed from your water supply.

Here are some links to various Australian fluoride action groups for our Aussie readers.

How do you feel when bureaucrats enforce a decision that affects our health without public consent?
