Hi, and thanks for visiting my blog. I’m Mukti (pronounced Mooktee) and I founded Mukti Organic Skincare in 2000, primarily due to sheer frustration. Back then it was impossible to find certified organic skincare products (how times have changed!).
I was once told that in order to find your passion and discover what you really want to do in life, you have to change what you don’t like.
In the years before I formulated my skincare range, I had studied natural therapies and was working as a beauty therapist. I was desperately searching for a range of pure and chemical-free personal care products I could use on my clients (as well as myself and my family), and couldn’t find any.
So, I created my own.
When I began Mukti Organic Skincare 12 years ago (originally called Mukti Botanicals), I set the bar very high. I decided I would never use any suspect ingredients, even if using cheap (but possibly toxic) chemicals would have increased my profit margin. After all, the skin absorbs everything we put onto it.
I’m so glad I stayed true to my vision, because after much work and research, Mukti Organic Skincare was granted certified organic status by the OFC in 2006.
It’s not enough that my products are natural and certified organic though — they also have to produce excellent results — otherwise what’s the point? To that end, I went back to college in 2010 and studied cosmetic science, always with a focus on further refining and perfecting my product.
My team and I are passionate about bringing you the purest skincare products available, handcrafted in small batches on a daily basis to maintain absolute freshness. We make Mukti Organic Skincare in the clean, green, rolling hills of Maleny in Australia’s Sunshine Coast hinterland, an eco-conscious community where people value organic lifestyles and environmental sustainability.
From our headquarters in Maleny we now distribute all over Australia and to South Korea, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines, Denmark and Singapore. In 2012 we will move into North America and Eastern Europe.
I have a great deal of knowledge about the skincare industry, and the toxins and chemicals that are contained in most skincare products, and I see it as my responsibility to help educate consumers about these, as they are definite health hazards.
I began this blog to get the word out that it’s not necessary to poison your body in order to have beautiful skin, and to advocate for truth in labelling.
Organic skincare is part of the wider organics movement, so I also blog about issues relating to environmental sustainability, conservation, organic health and beauty and spirituality — all of which combine to create happy, balanced people and a healthy planet.
Happy reading — please share your comments and suggestions about the blog or my products with me.

Hi there, I’m Leigh and I’m really excited Mukti has asked me to come on board as a new contributor to her blog in 2012. I’m a journalist with 18 years’ experience writing about health and beauty, organics, sustainability and environmental and social justice.
You’ll see my name popping up from time to time here and on Mukti’s Facebook page, which I’m also helping out with. If you have anything you’d like to see us include on the Mukti blog, drop me a line at leighrobshaw@gmail.com. You can check out my website here.
The 5 Guiding Principles of Mukti Organic Skincare
1. We believe in our products
The Mukti Organic Skincare team believe we make the best skincare products on the planet. We stringently uphold our commitment to quality and purity and we are so confident that you will love our products as much as we do, that we offer a full money back guarantee.
2. We trade in fairness and kindness
We do our utmost to support fair trade. We always source ingredients that are produced using methods that are sustainable for farmers, their local communities and the environment. It is our mission to help communities grow and prosper, rather than exploit them. We believe all beings have the right to a humane life, so we have never and will never test on animals. We proudly display the Choose Cruelty Free ‘Not Tested On Animals’ logo on all our products.
3. We think it’s easy being green
We obtained organic certification from the Organic Food Chain (OFC) in 2006 (OK it wasn’t that easy!), which ensures our skincare products are produced in an environmentally responsible way. Our product ingredients are GMO-free sourced sustainably. We reduce, reuse and recycle, and all our packaging is recyclable (and pretty too). Click here for more information about our environmental policy.
4. We educate consumers
Via the Mukti blog we educate consumers about organic health and beauty, environmental sustainability and achieving balance and harmony of body, mind and spirit. Mukti is a determined eco-activist and an advocate of truth in labelling. If you don’t know how to read and interpret skincare and cosmetics labels, then you’re placing trust in someone else, who may not always have your best interests at heart.
5. We are here to be of service
This is one of our core principles — we are here to help you. Please let us know what we can do for you to make your Mukti Organic Skincare experience even more memorable and enjoyable. We are always open to feedback. Any ideas or suggestions on how we can improve our products are most appreciated.
